VINTAGE VIBES

& THE NEW BLUES

It all begins in the Pacific Northwest…

From the early years in West Seattle, with weekly visits to Easy Street Records, fast forwarding to a 19-year-old, primarily self-taught blues-roots guitarist and singer-songwriter, GAVIN STONE has turned a lifelong passion for music into a soul-stirring journey.

The pivotal shift came in 2020, amid the world's upheaval, when a captivating Austin City Limits performance by Gary Clark Jr. ignited Gavin's immersion into the blues. What began as a casual chance encounter led to picking up a guitar and falling into an obsessive exploration.

"Who else is out there?" This question propelled Gavin into the raw, electric heart of Texas blues revealing the likeness of other Texas greats like Lightnin' Hopkins, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, and of course the unparalleled Stevie Ray Vaughan - the man who pulled it all together.

From there, the combined call of the Mississippi Delta and Chicago's gritty streets beckoned, introducing him to the haunting fingerpicking of Mississippi John Hurt, the muddy grooves of Muddy Waters, the primal howls of Howlin' Wolf, and the foundational crossroads tales of Robert Johnson.

The PNW’s enchanted rain-soaked landscape holds ground to a thriving blues scene with an aura all of its own that has further shaped Gavin's artistry. He's had the privilege of sharing stages with revered blues-roots icons both locally, around the US and internationally in the UK, France and Canada - all being experiences that have forged Gavin’s unique vision of the genre's past, present, and future. This perspective shines through in his electrifying performances, and original songwriting, blending vintage authenticity with fresh, honest innovation. Known for his scorching fretboard speed, melodic stylings and warm weathered vocals that channel the legendary Seattle voices still echoing in the ether - Gavin has his sights set on sharing his spin on the blues-roots genre, guided by the integrity of honoring the voices and brilliance of blues past.

Be sure to see him live, truly in his element and in the spirit of the roots world — where tinges of twang, emotions of folk and a weighty coloring of the blues rings out.
